8th Grade Football Championship is Back Home at The Trail!
Congratulations to the 8th grade football team for completing a perfect season with tonight's win over Springfield Middle School to capture the YCMSAC championship! The Wildcats finished the season with an 8-0, armed with a stellar defense that gave up only 20 points against all eight opponents COMBINED!
Way to go, Wildcats!! 2013 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!!

Week in the Life of 8th Grade
Monday:
- Crazy Sock and Hat Day for Red Ribbon Week.
- Sign up for Red Ribbon Week Bingo at lunch.
- Buy your ticket for the 8th Grade Football Championship Game.
- Annie Jr. Audition Workshop from 3:45-5:30 in the chorus room.
- Red Ribbon Week Bingo.
- Buy your ticket for the 8th Grade Football Championship Game.
- Annie Jr. Audition Workshop from 3:45-5:30 in the chorus room.
- Buy your ticket for the 8th Grade Football Championship Game by 8:30 in the morning. You will not be able to call home for money if you forget. You also will not be able to dress down if you do not purchase the ticket by 8:30. You CAN still attend the game. You will need to buy a ticket at the door.
- 8th Grade Football Championship Game at SPHS. Walk over with us to support your team if you bought a ticket.
- If you bought a ticket to the game, you can wear your spirit wear top with your dress code bottoms!
- Red Ribbon Week Family Feud in the Commons Area at lunch.
- Wear a RED shirt with dress code bottoms to wrap up Red Ribbon Week.
- Special Activities for RRW during Related Arts. Go to 1st Related Arts only.

Red Ribbon Week Comes to STMS
Monday
- Hats off to being drug free! and Sock it to Drugs!-Students can wear wacky socks and hats to kick off the week. Regular Dress Code Applies.
- You will see Red Ribbons on your door when you enter Academy and will do some activities to learn about Red Ribbon Week.
- Red Ribbon Bands will be sold at lunches through Thursday. This will be a grade level competition to raise money for Keystone. The winning grade level will get to have lunch outside.
- Drug Fact of the Day will be on the announcement app. Submit your answer to your grade level counselor at lunch for a chance to win a prize.
- Students can sign up at lunch on Monday with their counselor to play Bingo on Tuesday.
- Bingo in the media center for students who signed up.
- Facts of the Day continue.
- Red Ribbon Band sales continue.
- Facts of the Day continue.
- Red Ribbon Band sales continue.
- Family Feud during lunch outside. Students will be picked from the audience in the Commons Area to play.

Workshops and Auditions for Annie, Jr.!
Audition Workshops will be held Monday, Oct 28 and Tuesday, Oct 29 from 3:45-5:30 pm in the Chorus room. The workshops are optional and are a great way to learn the music, choreography, and lines you will need to know for auditions the following week.
Auditions will be Monday, Nov 4 from 4-6 pm in the auditorium. Every student at STMS is welcome to audition and must attend the MONDAY audition in order to be considered. CALL BACK auditions will be Tues. Nov 5 and Wed Nov 6 from 4-6 pm.

Prepping for the PSAT

Last Minute Advice:
- Get a good night's sleep the night before the test.
- Eat a healthy breakfast on Wednesday morning.
- You WILL come across questions you don't know. Don't get stuck, just skip these questions and come back to them if you have time.
- Pace yourself. This is a timed test, so don't spend too much time on any question.
- Don't stress, just do your best!

GEMS are shining
Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) will have their first meeting on October 16th from 4:00-5:00 in room A111 (Mrs. Crenshaw). Any girls who love Science, Math and/or Engineering are welcomed to join. All you need to do is show up to the meeting on October 16th. This club is guaranteed to be full of excitement!

The Court is Calling!
Boys:
Boys Basketball Tryouts will be November 4-7. All boys must have a completed physical turned in to Coach Robinson before they can try out. Physical forms can be picked up in the front office of Saluda Trail Middle School. The following is the tryout schedule:
All girls must have a completed physical in order to try out. Physical forms are available at the front desk or see Coach Mew. Please bring running/basketball shoes and appropriate athletic clothing to tryouts. See Coach Mew or Coach Hunsinger with any questions.

When the students are at their Related Arts classes, team teachers pull together to discuss and plan ways to help their students. This occurs within individual teams as well as between content teachers from all three teams!

In a head to head competition on Wednesday, Mr. Herring's students played a spirited game to review for their test. In his Core 4 class, it was a boys against girls rivalry and the girls prevailed victorious in the first match. See the video below for the game winning point. This is proof that studying doesn't always have to be boring!
